PRESIDENT'S WELCOME

The Salem Area Garden Club is a non-profit corporation which since 1941 continues to promote home gardening, development of the spirit of fraternalism among gardeners, gardening ideas, conservation, and gardening among our youth regardless of membership in a garden club. Sponsorship of beautification projects and the dissemination of practical garden information help to accomplish these objectives. We are continuing our tradition of fund raising and community service for many organizations. This year we helped:

Deepwood Estates Conservatory Solarium
Willamette Heritage Center at The Mill
Marion County Fresh Start Program
Donate to other nonprofit organizations
Provide an horticulture scholarship
to a high school student.

One of our annual fund raisers is the plant sale at the Sheep to Shaw Family Festival held at the Willamete Heritage Center. We also have a garage sale, manage a booth at the spring and fall home shows and other locations to disseminate information and recruit new members.

During our monthly general meetings we have a guest speaker, socializing, light refreshments and door prizes. These meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. During the summer we have a barbecue and picnic for our membership. In December we have our annual dinner.

Members receive our club newsletter monthly, packed with informative articles, opportunities to get involved, helpful lists of local resources, classes, plant sales and more. Members have many opportunities to participate in beautification projects within our community. Solid, lasting friendships are fostered here within an environment of respect and love for nature. We encourage you to join us!

In addition, we will update the web page monthly providing the speaker, date, and location.
